After finishing my degree in psychology, I’ve been searching for a job where I can apply what I’ve learned while actually making a difference. I’m especially interested in working with adults who have developmental disabilities, but most job boards are overwhelming and generic. Does anyone know of any centers in New York that are actively hiring and offer a structured, ethical working environment?

Absolutely — you should take a look at jobs working with adults with developmental disabilities through Gateway Counseling Center. They’re well known in NYC for their programs supporting adults with both intellectual and developmental challenges, and their team plays a vital role in that success. What I appreciate about Gateway is their commitment to staff training, mental health support, and long-term career growth. A colleague of mine joined last fall and is now leading group activities — she said it’s the most fulfilling work she’s done. The application process is straightforward, and they’re always looking for compassionate, motivated people.
